Who to Be?

Humans

Humans are the most populous beings on the planet and live primarily in cities, unaware of the monsters, Gods, Goddesses, and the untold wonders and horrors that teem around them. For the most part, humans are content to live behind the mist (see Other Information) but for some normal humans, the mist is merely a minor obstacle. While unable to see the true nature of the world and monsters around them, some normal humans have become aware of their existence. Unwilling to be ignorant of the world around them, a select few humans fight back with technology and a sheer ingenuity that so embodies the human race.

The humans who can see through the mist are simply referred to as ‘Special’ humans. While automatically no stronger or fiercer than normal humans, special humans have the ability to see into the true heart of the world(a gift that the Gods granted them). These chosen few have the potential to become extraordinarily powerful warriors, sorcerers, alchemists, and sometimes, on very rare occasions, oracles. Their allegiances, because they have no familial ties with any God or Goddess, are extremely malleable. Thus, with the maneuverability both normal and special humans have, they have become major players in the brewing conflict between the Gods and Goddesses of the Greek pantheon and the Forgotten Gods of dead Civilizations.

Half-bloods

Half-Bloods are the children of the Gods and Goddesses of the Greek Pantheon, also sometimes referred to as Demi-Gods or Heroes, and mortal men or women. Half-bloods are powerful mortals, many inheriting the strengths and abilities of their parents. While they look no different than other humans, they are the main weapons of the Gods and Goddesses in their war against the Forgotten Ones. However, the price the Gods pay for their promiscuous ways often leads to resentment among their children and their help is not always assured.

Traditionally, half-bloods are watched over and trained by Chiron, a centaur, at Camp Half-blood. In the past, many have not been allowed to leave the camp, for their presence is easily scented by monsters of all pantheons and they are hunted. However, in recent times, with the threat of war and the recent recognition and awakening of Half-bloods around the world, the camp has become overcrowded, leading many to seek their own way.

The Big Three, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, currently have only awakened and recognized two of their children, primarily because they are far more powerful and uncontrollable than the other half-bloods. The other Gods and Goddesses have no such restrictions. Thus, applicants to Mythos may be a Son/Daughter of Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades if they wish as long as the spots are not already taken. Also of importance to note is the fact that you can apply as son’s or daughters of minor Greek Gods or Goddesses, such as Nemesis, Isis, etc. They must be apart of the Greek Pantheon, however. Information on the available Gods and Goddesses can be found on the Deities page. Also, important to mention is that Pan fathered all Satyrs and Poseidon fathered all Cyclops so they are half-bloods, not monsters.

Please note that that half-bloods have to have a mortal parent.

Monsters

Monsters come in all shapes and sizes and vary from extremely powerful to little or no threat at all. Some monsters are friendly and some art not. Notable monsters are the Minotaur, the Sphinx, and the Hydra. Traditional monsters you are welcome to apply for but please check to see if anyone else has already applied for the monster you wish to roleplay because for some monsters (such as the minotaur, and the sphinx) there can be only one of at a time. Additionally, you may apply for a monster from any mythological pantheon as long as you give a fair description under races. Also of importance to note is that monsters can shape the mist in regards to the there appearance. So to most humans and even some Half-Bloods, monsters look to be regular humans, though often people feel odd in their presence.

If you do not wish to use a traditional monster you may make your own but a few rules must be followed. Monsters must be affiliated with a particular Pantheon. Monsters, for the most part, are not sexy. However, most humans can’t see your true form anyway because the mist obscures their vision. Monsters have the benefit of re-spawning because they are a part of a civilization and thus as long as people once believed or still believe they exist, they can merely reform themselves. However, this is no excuse to be careless because for some monsters this may take years, decades, or even centuries. Generally speaking, an administrator will let you know after you die if you can re spawn.

Certain monsters are not allowed to be applied for. For example, Typhon who is described as taller than the sky and the only thing the Gods truly feared, is not a monster that can be roleplayed. Use common sense when writing your application and if you have any doubts feel free to message an administrator. Generally, anything that is not humanoid is considered a monster.
